2024 Youth Dairy Camp at Wingham Showground

00:00I'm Lucy Cochran and I'm from Nowra.

00:05What have you enjoyed about the camp so far?

00:10Meeting new friends and making sure your calf is healthy and make sure she's good for the

00:20show.

00:22I came from a dairy farm and my mum found it on the internet and I was like, sure I'll

00:30have a go and I'm like, okay I'll have a go.

00:34I'm Jess Garrett, we're from near Toowoomba in Queensland and I brought my son and another

00:40young lady down to the Manning Youth Camp for the dairy.

00:47So we've just started showing our own cows over the last 12-15 months and wanting to

00:53get my son interested and the other young lady who I brought down, she was also very

00:57keen to learn some more stuff about dairy stuff, well showing cows, her pig, her heifers

01:03and all that sort of thing.

01:05Not something we've ever done as a family but wanting to get started and it's a great

01:10place to start.

01:11It's been great.

01:12I think the youth, the team environment has been great, especially by Karen.

01:18Just getting the teams to work together and then learning all the different skills and

01:22knowledge about strong heifers for themselves, like making sure they're animals and good

01:29animals and then how to prepare them for shows.

01:32It's been really good.
