00:00U.S. President Joe Biden has postponed his Tuesday trip for Angola and Germany, so he

00:05can't preside over federal government's response in the wake of killer Hurricane Milton, which

00:10is forecast to make landfall and hit Tampa and the western parts of the Florida Panhandle

00:15in a matter of hours.

00:17The aftermath or devastation from Milton's passage is expected to be unlike what's been

00:22seen from Helene, Irma, Ian, or even Katrina.

00:31Florida residents brace for Hurricane Milton, less than two weeks after the southeastern

00:36U.S. state was hit by Hurricane Helene.

00:57Downgraded from Category 5 to 4 Tuesday, Milton is projected to make landfall overnight Wednesday,

01:04with a storm surge much stronger than what some residents experienced during Helene.

01:09President Joe Biden postponed his trip to Germany and Angola, scheduled for Thursday,

01:13so he can oversee the disaster response.

01:15The governor of Florida has been cooperative.

01:19He said he's gotten all that he needs.

01:20I talked to him again yesterday, and I said, no, you're doing a great job, it's all being

01:27done well, we thank you for it, and I literally gave him my personal phone number.

01:31Less than a month to the election, former President Donald Trump has made false claims

01:35that the federal government is doing little to assess hurricane victims.

01:40The Republican nominee sought to gain a political edge by tying the claims to his Democratic

01:44rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

01:47He and she, they send hundreds of billions of dollars, they send hundreds of billions

01:56of dollars to foreign nations, and you know what they're giving our people, 750 bucks.

02:01Harris attacked Trump for, quote, pushing out disinformation.

02:04It's extraordinarily irresponsible, it's about him, it's not about you, and the reality is

02:11that FEMA has so many resources that are available to folks who desperately need them.

02:17As the politicians traded barbs, Floridians in beach communities followed evacuation orders

02:22issued by their governor, Ron DeSantis, who warned of storm surge and flooding.

02:28We will have, before landfall, 8,000 National Guard for the state of Florida that will be

02:34activated.

02:36We have already on hand 34 different search and rescue aircraft.

02:42We've never had this many resources prior to a storm.

02:47Despite earlier reported tensions, DeSantis, a Republican, said he had received needed

02:51support from the Biden administration.

02:54Meanwhile, rain and powerful winds battered Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula Tuesday as Milton

02:59headed eastwards towards Florida.
