00:00Meantime, POTUS Joe Biden asked his German and Angolan hosts to take a rain check so

00:04he could preside over federal government response to monster Hurricane Milton's deadly passage

00:10across the Florida panhandle.

00:12And up to a few hours before Milton made landfall in Tampa, the president urged those in the

00:17path of the hurricane to seek safer shelter or stay safe in place where they are.

00:23The U.S. Anita Powell and Jose Pernaleta report from Washington, D.C. and Pinellas

00:28County in Florida.

00:32The skies looked nice as Hurricane Milton bore down on Florida's western coast Wednesday

00:36morning.

00:37And President Joe Biden warned that a deadly and catastrophic storm would slam into the

00:42state that night, bringing high winds and severe flooding.

00:46It's looking like the storm of the century.

00:49Residents of the town of Clearwater were battered just weeks ago by Hurricane Helene.

00:54With Helena, the water came up to here.

00:57After the flood, water got into my in-laws' room.

01:01Resident Michael Ingram did not hesitate to scoop up his loved ones.

01:05Then they hit the road.

01:06Of course, I would not leave without them, no way.

01:09Local officials bore down and urged residents to heed evacuation orders.

01:13Our message is please don't stay home if you are in one of the evacuation zones.

01:19Florida Governor Ron DeSantis urged the same Wednesday morning.

01:23You still have time to evacuate.

01:27Washington is especially concerned about how a storm of misinformation about the government's

01:32hurricane response could tear the nation's delicate unity.

01:36With Biden making clear who he thinks is behind these narratives.

01:41Former President Trump has led the onslaught of lies.

01:44Assertions have been made that property is being confiscated.

01:48That's simply not true.

01:50They're saying people impacted by these storms will receive $750 in cash and no more.

01:58They're saying the money is needed for this crisis is being diverted to migrants.

02:08Now the claims are getting even more bizarre.
