The Selangor Government and Education Ministry have joined hands to improve
00:04
the quality of education in the state,
00:06
encompassing all aspects of human capital development.
00:10
They aim to achieve the objectives through the Terkad Reformasi
00:14
pendidikan program launched in Kajang on Monday.
00:17
We have put in place several aspects
00:21
so that a reset of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis
00:29
can start something new.
00:32
Actually, the excitement about this has started since 2019
00:39
when the government reaffirmed that education
00:44
must be an important basis for development and progress
00:50
in our country.
00:52
To ensure that Selangor remains stable
00:55
as the largest main contributor in the KDNK,
00:59
the field of education is an indispensable basis.
01:04
Otherwise, we will always rely on import sources
01:11
or maybe from foreign countries.
01:14
And we are unable to give a direct impact on development and progress
01:19
to the people of our country.
01:23
Later at a press conference,
01:25
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Sri Amiruddin Syari
01:28
said the program will encompass academic, sports and culture,
01:32
technical, vocational, education and training,
01:34
as well as special needs education.
01:37
He said the state's People's Tuition Center
01:39
will conduct literacy and numeracy training
01:42
for 17,000 children in primary schools
01:45
who are struggling with reading, writing and counting.
01:48
Education Minister Fadlina Sidek said nationwide,
01:52
the ministry had identified 122,000 year-one pupils
01:56
as still lacking the three essential skills.
01:59
We have identified more than 83,000 children
02:07
who will be involved in this program,
02:11
especially those with 3D, 3M, SPM and literacy skills.
02:18
Numbers are dynamic.
02:20
As long as they are controlled through interventions
02:23
both at the state level and at the federal level,
02:26
and through our children's programs,
02:28
the numbers will change.
02:32
The ministry said Selangor was chosen for the launch
02:35
of the Terkad Reformasi Pendidikan program
02:38
because the state had shown
02:39
an impressive performance in education
02:42
in terms of academics and sports.
