Pope Francis once again calls for an "immediate ceasefire" in the Middle East and urges the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas, ahead of the first anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel of October 7th 2023.

00:00Tomorrow, a year will have passed since the terrorist attack against the Israeli population,

00:17to which I renew my closeness.

00:20Let us not forget that there are still many hostages in Gaza, for whom I ask for immediate

00:27release.

00:29Since that day, the Middle East has been plagued with ever more serious suffering, with

00:37destructive military actions that continue to affect the Palestinian population.

00:44This population is suffering a lot in Gaza and in other territories.

00:53It is mostly innocent civilians, all people who need humanitarian aid.

01:05I ask for an immediate ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon.

01:13Let us pray for the Lebanese, especially for the inhabitants of the south, who are forced

01:23to leave their villages.
