00:00Alright, hi people, it's Jigs here, I'm here to do an unboxing for you guys today of Disney's
00:06Epic Mickey Rebrushed.
00:10I don't know if I did an unboxing for the original version of the game, I do have it,
00:13I started a playthrough of it on my gaming channel, haven't gotten back to it.
00:16I'll probably replace it with this, with a playthrough of this game, or this version
00:21of the game.
00:23So Epic Mickey, if you guys don't know or remember, was a game that came out for the
00:28Wii in the late 2000s, I think it was 2010, something like that.
00:36And it was like Disney's attempt to bring Mickey back to how he used to be in the early
00:42days of the old Walt Disney shorts, back from like the 20s and 30s.
00:52To do that, they decided to partner up with a video game company to do a video game with
00:59his original persona, to a degree, bringing back the older arc style, and also having
01:07Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, which I believe they had just gotten back from Universal, because
01:13of the whole rights issues there in regards to that.
01:17I think they traded Universal something for it, I don't know what they traded, I can't
01:21remember what they traded on though.
01:23But yeah, because there was a whole controversy in regards to who actually created Oswald,
01:31I think it was a joint thing between Walt Disney and another guy, and then the rights
01:37got ripped away from Disney because it was created under a different company, I believe,
01:42and yeah, so they owned the IP, then somehow Universal got that, and yeah.
01:49But yeah, and this originally only came out for the Wii, even though originally when it
01:54was being planned, from what I've read, it was originally supposed to be multi-platform,
01:58it was supposed to be for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and the Wii.
02:04But they settled on just making it for the Wii when they saw the motion control gimmick.
02:11The sequel, Epic Mickey 2, would be multi-platform.
02:15It would be for the Wii, the Wii U, the 360, the PS3, and I think the PC?
02:20Can't remember though.
02:22Which is why I'm surprised that they didn't do a remaster of that game as well and packaged
02:26it in this for a 2-pack, but eh.
02:31Funnily enough, Epic Mickey 2 is backwards-compatible on the Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles,
02:36so if you want to play it, there you go, for those consoles.
02:41But yeah, this is basically a touched-up version of the game where they revamped the graphics,
02:46they revamped some of the cutscenes I believe, like some of the animations, and brought it
02:51up to speed for the 2020s in high definition.
02:56I know the original version could go to widescreen if you had the right cables, like when I played
03:00it on the Wii U, it went to widescreen, not full widescreen because it was a Wii game,
03:04but you know, because there was this weird, like, Wii games have this weird thing where
03:10if they do support widescreen, they don't go all the way out to the ends of the TV,
03:15they have these weird, like, slight black bars because of how the Wii, or when the Wii
03:23came out it still had, like, component and composite cables as its main thing, didn't
03:28support HDMI until the Wii U, but they did release HD cables for it I believe that did
03:36support widescreen, it was weird.
03:38But yeah, so when you play them on the Wii U, they still have those black bars even though
03:44the frames are opened up to widescreen, but yeah, but I'm still glad that they did this
03:48because it gives everybody a brand new chance to play this game in a better format on their
03:55console of choice or even PC if you prefer, and you don't have to be stuck with the really
04:02gimmicky motion controls of the Wii, so yeah, and I'm glad that THQ Nordic teamed up with
04:08Disney and Purple Lamp, I believe those are the original devs behind the game, and decided
04:14to revamp this game and re-release it.
04:17So yeah, so it says Disney Epic Mickey Rebrushed, I have it for Xbox Series X, also is on Xbox
04:241, the E10 for everyone signing up, Xbox logo, Spine, Xbox Epic Mickey Rebrushed, and on
04:31the back, screenshots from the game, a description that's in English and French, more stuff,
04:40yeah, so optimized for Series X, smart delivery, single player, 4K, 60fps, and all that, that's
04:47also a thing is that this is in 60fps as well, which is good, the original game was only
04:51at 30 because it was on the Wii, but yeah.
04:55And then on the inside here, you've just got the disc, yeah, again I really do wish that
04:59they, um, did remaster the second game as well, maybe they didn't necessarily need to
05:06touch up the graphics too too much because it was already in 8-key when it was on the
05:09360 and Wii U and PS3, but you know, just sprucing up the graphics a bit, bringing it
05:15up to 60fps would have been nice, but, eh, maybe they'll do that in the future, I don't
05:20know, but yeah.
05:22Then there was also a game for the DS that no one talks about because no one cares, um,
05:27but, or really knows, but, yeah, but the, I think it was due to the corporate restructuring
05:33of Disney at the time, they just didn't really care, so they put an end to the series, and
05:38I don't know, I don't know how sales were at the time, but I don't know if they supported
05:42doing a third game for consoles, but yeah, but, yeah, so again, we have this, so yeah,
05:49so not much else to say, so, links in the description, subscribe if you want, and I'll
05:53see you guys in the next one.
