00:00And Pat, the teachers union now speaking out on the sports betting bill, look, this is
00:08gaining a lot of momentum on this.
00:11There's some negativity too.
00:12Let's not get it twisted.
00:13I see some articles about this and responsible gaming and look what's happened in other places.
00:18But the more I'm sort of reading about this, the more it does seem to me that they're going
00:23to get the votes that they need.
00:24Yeah.
00:25I mean, it's going to be a really interesting month.
00:28As you just mentioned, we're a month from election day, which is wild to think about
00:32that this year has flown by and we're there basically.
00:36Yeah, this is going to be a really close kind of issue to watch.
00:40We're seeing tons of people on both sides come out.
00:43Of course, FanDuel and DraftKings have funded $21.5 million and I'm sure there's going to
00:48be more coming in to support this ballot initiative.
00:52And Caesars, of course, is kind of the lone operator on the other side funding the opposition
00:57PAC with the $4 million donation.
01:00And so this is just a really tight kind of contest at this point.
01:04You know, polling numbers show about 50-52% for, but of course, where are the margins
01:09of errors and what have you.
01:12And this is interesting because the Kansas City Teachers Union came out and said they're
01:16against this amendment, which is really interesting because the campaign for this ballot amendment
01:24is called Winning for Missouri Education, which they're funding education with the
01:32sports betting taxes, which is 10%.
01:36There's a study that came out that within five years, you'll get about $38.7 million
01:42in taxes or so for Missouri public education, which both gubernatorial candidates that are
01:49up for election in a month have come in and said they're for this amendment because they
01:54want to help fund education and that they both think that teacher wages need to go up
02:01in Missouri because I think it's about 47th for average teacher pay in the U.S.
02:05So this is an issue that people are trying to push because they want to fund education
02:10or that's what they're saying anyway.
02:12Well, the Teachers Union in Kansas City says, well, let's slow the roll here.
02:17You can't promise wages based on fluctuating tax numbers, basically, is what they said.
02:25And there were a few other reasons they oppose it.
02:27But just a really kind of interesting take because you've got teachers who would benefit
02:33from this, supposedly, and are saying, well, I don't know about this.
02:39We need to tread carefully.
02:40It'll be interesting to see what other teacher unions in Missouri, if there are other ones,
02:45I'm not quite sure.
02:46I'm not fully up to date on the teacher unions in Missouri, but maybe I should be.
02:52See what they do.
02:53The St. Louis Post-Dispatch came out and said they're for the ballot initiative.
02:58So you've got lots of supporters, not that many detractors yet, but opposition campaigns
03:05can do wonders or terrible things to campaign.
03:09So we'll see what happens to polling numbers.
03:12I'm sure there's going to be some soon.
03:13I saw the pack, the opposition pack has done some polling.
03:18We'll expect to see those numbers soon and we'll see if that they resemble the numbers
03:22that the Winning for Missouri Education has put out.
03:26So it's a big thing.
03:27We're a month away.
03:28Again, something I'm going to be watching very closely as others watch other things
03:33much more carefully on Election Day.
