00:00Well, the Queensland election campaign is officially underway.
00:05Premier Stephen Miles has made the traditional trip to Government House so the writ can be
00:09issued and Parliament dissolved.
00:11But today, rather than arriving in the usual Government car, he caught public transport
00:16here.
00:17No doubt keen to remind voters, even on this trip to kick off the campaign, that it was
00:21his Government that brought in the trial of flat 50 cent public transport fares in Queensland,
00:26something both Labor and the LNP have since pledged to keep.
00:30Emerging from Government House, Mr Miles held a quick press conference where he talked about
00:34his Government's cost of living initiatives, such as 50 cent fares, energy rebates and
00:38says he has a vision for the state's future.
00:41This Queensland election is about two things, who do you trust most to tackle the cost of
00:47living and deliver a plan for Queensland's future.
00:52When it comes to cost of living, I will be running on my record.
00:56From the day that I was appointed Premier, my Labor team and I have delivered cost of
01:02living relief.
01:03The way we move forward, the way Queensland moves forward, is by delivering a plan for
01:12our state's future.
01:13We cannot afford to go backwards.
01:16Labor is seeking a fourth term in Government, meanwhile the LNP is making the case time's
01:21up for Labor and it should govern after almost a decade in opposition.
01:26Make no mistake, the battle lines for this election have been drawn and the question
01:31Queenslanders need to ask themselves is after 10 years of this Government, are things better
01:35or worse when it comes to youth crime, health, housing, cost of living and who's got the
01:40right plans for Queensland's future.
01:43Queenslanders head to the polls on October 26th.
