Asda apologises after stores opened later than planned due to till issue

Asda has apologised after some of its supermarkets opened later than scheduled after its tills were struck by a technical issue. The retailer said the problem has been fixed and stores are now operating as normal.

00:10The Leeds-based supermarket chain Asda has apologised

00:14after some of its supermarkets opened later than scheduled

00:18after its tills were hit by a technical issue.

00:21Asda said the issue has been fixed and stores are now operating as normal.

00:27A number of stores were due to open early on Monday morning

00:31but they turned away customers until around 8am when the checkout issue was resolved.

00:37It's understood that the issue was linked to a planned overnight update

00:41of technical systems which took place on Sunday evening.

00:46A spokesman for Asda said that some of our stores opened later than planned this morning

00:51due to a technical issue affecting checkouts.

00:54This has now been resolved and we apologise to customers for any inconvenience.
