00:00Heads of state and government representatives continue to take the floor Thursday on the

00:04third day of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

00:09Our special envoy to New York, Jorge Gestoso, with the details.

00:16The reflection of all the members of the United Nations to create a mission on a permanent

00:22basis to keep the peace in Haiti has been the request of the President of the Transitional

00:29Council that today takes place in Haiti, because so far there's only a mission sent by the

00:37Kenyans, about 400 policemen has been sent already, they expect 2,500 by the end of the

00:44year in order to keep only that part of the peace, especially in Port-au-Prince, they

00:51only secure the airport.

00:54And precisely because of that, the President of Haiti has a much more ambitious plans and

01:00they say it's absolutely necessary to create that permanent mission of peace.

01:07That was one of the highlights.

01:08He says also that in Springfield, Ohio, it has been said by the candidate Donald Trump

01:18that the Haitian community there eats cats and dogs, and he said that it's absolutely

01:23absurd, that it's a show of xenophobic and racist remarks against not only Haitians,

01:31but all the immigrants in the U.S.

01:34He congratulates precisely the community of Haitians in that city because their work has

01:41been an example of good behavior and contribution to the city of Springfield.

01:48Before of that, we heard the President of the Authority of the Palestine, we're talking

01:55about Mahmoud Abbas, he put special emphasis that he was not there in this case in the

02:02debate to respond to the lies, as he mentioned, of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

02:09He said that it's absolutely necessary to stop the crimes and even, he went further,

02:14he said, to stop the genocide against Gaza that is taking place.

02:18He said it has to stop now, he put emphasis in now.

02:22He said that 70 percent of Gaza has been totally destroyed, that it's absolutely necessary

02:29that the United Nations eliminate Israel, because it doesn't deserve to be a member

02:36of the United Nations.

02:37He asked precisely to stop also the sending of weapons, weapons that are being sent by

02:45the U.S. and the international community, especially the European Union, to feed precisely

02:52those what is called the genocides.

02:54We're talking about more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed, most of them children and

03:01women.

03:02And at the same time, he said it's necessary to implement as soon as possible a permanent

03:08peace.

03:09The aid is absolutely necessary, the aid for the people, because they say they have nothing,

03:17absolutely nothing in Gaza, and it's absolutely necessary to establish a two-states situation.

03:26We have heard also the speeches of some countries of our Latin America, we're talking Uruguay

03:33in the morning, in the afternoon was Costa Rica and Peru, and we are expecting tomorrow

03:39to have a fourth session of the general debate.
