00:00If there is a Filipino event that is held every year,
00:03well, there is also Tandang Pinoy.
00:06This is where the seniors and other retired professional athletes
00:11who can compete despite their age are given an opportunity.
00:14This is what Paolo Salamatin has to say.
00:18Sport is for everyone.
00:20This is what Philippine Masters Games Association President Alberto Agra said
00:25regarding the event and the first edition of Tandang Pinoy
00:29that is held throughout the month of November this year.
00:32The Philippine Masters Games Association is a new association
00:36that supports the success of masters or senior athletes in the Philippines.
00:40As part of their program,
00:41the so-called event that is held this November
00:44is where the masters and senior athletes are given an opportunity
00:48to showcase their talent despite their age.
00:52Some of the events that will be flagged in Tandang Pinoy
00:55are basketball, athletics, chess, bowling, paddle, and pickleball.
01:01We know that there is Batang Pinoy.
01:04Batang Pinoy is for 12 to 17 years of age.
01:10So let's not forget the seniors and masters.
01:15And even for our retired national athletes,
01:18we are giving them an opportunity by which they can still compete.
01:23Agra also shared where this kind of event came from and its importance.
01:30Sports has a deep and broad reason.
01:33That's why sports for everybody should be a part of it.
01:37This is our responsibility for the well-being of our masters and seniors.
01:45And I'm already a part of it, being a senior citizen.
01:49This is the first edition of the competition this year
01:52and more sports are expected to be played
01:56and those who want to compete here in the coming years.
