00:00Very windy down through Tasmania at the moment.
00:05Mount Wellington has gusted to 139km this morning.
00:09We're seeing gusts of 75-80km an hour around the Hobart area and many of our exposed locations
00:15in excess of 100.
00:16Damaging wind warnings are current for much of southern, central and eastern parts of
00:21Tasmania for this morning as we could see winds anywhere from 100-120km an hour and
00:27that could bring down trees and power lines and cause some property damage.
00:30We're expecting the winds to continue through to about lunchtime and then slowly ease this
00:34afternoon and should be calm as by tonight into tomorrow.
00:36Even though it's been really wet through parts of northern and western Tasmania, it
00:40generally dries out as it's been very windy through eastern parts so these strong winds
00:44and dry air with this front, because there's not much rain with it, is causing these elevated
00:48fire dangers and that's similar further north as well through parts of New South Wales.
