00:28argues that this funding shortfall threatens the sustainability and quality of university

00:33education, with many institutions facing budget deficits.

00:39Universities suggest that if fees are kept paced with inflation, there would now be between

00:43£12,000 and £13,000 per student.

00:46In addition to advocating for higher fees, UUK has also called for an increased government

00:51support in the form of maintenance loans and grants for students from lower income backgrounds.
