00:15Thirty-year-old Alif, or his full name Muhammad Hazalif Muhammad Hazani, pleaded not guilty
00:20after the charges were read out before Sessions Court Judge Azura Alwi on Friday.
00:26According to the first charge, Alif was accused of dishonestly misappropriating around 36,000
00:32ringgit, which was meant for donations to fund Breaking Fast programs in Mecca, Syria
00:37and Palestine at CIMB Bank, located at KL Gateway, on April 26.
00:44The second charge states, Alif allegedly misappropriated more than 27,000 ringgit, meant for Jomsataye
00:51infaq daging qurban program, at the same bank on June 15.
00:56He was charged under Section 403 of the Penal Code for both offences, which carries a jail
01:01term between four months to five years, whipping and fine, upon conviction.
01:07During the proceedings, Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Yasmin Saleh suggested that bail between
01:1350,000 ringgit and 100,000 ringgit be imposed for both charges, with the additional condition
01:20that the passport must be handed over to the court, and the accused must report to
01:25the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Putrajaya Headquarters every month.
01:31In mitigating for a lower bail, Lawyer Mohamad Sharula Khan said his client was supporting
01:36his family and that all of his property had been frozen by the MACC.
01:42The court fixed bail at 50,000 ringgit for both charges, as well as additional conditions
01:47as requested by the prosecution, and fixed October 21st for the next court mention.
