00:00Robert F. Kennedy Jr. says he's under investigation for scavenging a whale's head.
00:04Right after I endorsed President Trump, I received a letter from the National Marine
00:13Fisheries Institute saying that they were investigating me for collecting a whale specimen
00:2120 years ago. And this is all about the weaponization of our government against
00:26political opponents of the party in power. Kennedy said the alleged act now falls outside
00:31the statute of limitations. The National Marine Fisheries Service is part of the National Oceanic
00:36and Atmospheric Administration. NMFS Director of Public Affairs Kate Silverstein told The Hill
00:41it is longstanding NOAA practice not to comment on open investigations. If you've been following
00:47Kennedy's career closely, this news may not come as a huge surprise. The whale story was first
00:52reported in Town & Country magazine in 2012. Kennedy's daughter, Kick, told the magazine that
00:58when she was six, so around 1994, her father used a chainsaw to cut the head off of a dead beached
01:04whale in Hyannisport, Massachusetts. He then strapped the head to the roof of the family minivan
01:09and drove it to Mount Kisco, New York. The story resurfaced in the media this summer after Kennedy
01:14admitted to having left a roadkill bear cub in Central Park in 2014, staged to make it look like
01:20it had been hit by a bicycle. Last month, the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund
01:24issued a letter calling for an investigation into the incident. Apparently, they got their wish.
