00:01Bobby, please.
00:04Thank you very much, Mr. President.
00:09In December of 1960, a month after he won the election,
00:15my uncle, who was about to be president,
00:18wrote an article for Sports Illustrated
00:21called The Soft American,
00:23and he was lamenting the fact that
00:25America had prided itself on its beef jerky toughness,
00:30and that we were losing that.
00:32We were falling behind the Europeans.
00:34We were falling behind other nations,
00:36and he was signaling with that article
00:38that he was going to make physical fitness of our kids
00:42the centerpiece of his administration,
00:44and I'm so grateful to President Trump
00:48for bringing back this tradition.
00:50I was talking to Paul before we went in here.
00:53We were part of the Council on Physical Fitness
00:57when we were kids,
00:58and you had to do sit-ups,
01:00you had to do pull-ups,
01:01you had to do shuttle runs,
01:02you had to do one-mile runs,
01:03and they awarded the top 15%
01:07with a patch and with recognition
01:11and with certificates,
01:13and for me, it was a huge item of pride
01:16when I was growing up,
01:17and we need to reinstill
01:20that spirit of competition
01:22and that spirit
01:24and that commitment to nutrition
01:26and physical fitness,
01:28and I'm so grateful to President Trump
01:30for your leadership
01:31and bringing this back for our country.
01:33Thank you, Will.
01:33Thank you very much.
01:34Honored, representing the great women in sports,
01:38please.
