00:08Very happy with it.

00:11This show just exploded when it came out and it was one of those things that it wasn't

00:16like, oh, we can't wait for the show, we can't wait for the show.

00:18It just like dropped on Netflix and all of a sudden everyone and their mother literally

00:21was watching it.

00:22Yeah.

00:23What was that experience like for you?

00:24Well, you see, I'm not on social media, so I sort of wasn't familiar when it happened

00:29that it had just exploded on social media and everyone suddenly started watching it.

00:32So three days in, suddenly everyone had seen the whole thing and we were like, what?

00:37How did this happen?

00:38So it was, yeah, it was, it's the stuff your dreams are made of.

00:42You want to make a show that you think is really important, you want to do great work

00:45and then you hope that everyone's going to watch it.

00:47You don't expect the globe to watch it.

00:50So it's been extraordinary.

00:52Really happy.

00:53Wait, so who are you texting saying, tell me what the comments are saying about my scene?

00:58Yeah, you know, we just text because we're happy to see each other and we keep the subject

01:13It's a comedy, you know?

01:14Yeah.

01:18What's been the most surprising to you in terms of the reaction to the show?

01:23Because obviously, you know, you hope people watch it, but like, has there been things

01:26that people latched onto that you're like, oh, that's not what I was expecting?

01:30Well, the most positive thing, which has been a surprise and a delight, is the uptick in

01:35calls to We Are Survivors about male sexual assault, which was just huge, you know, because

01:40toxic masculinity is such an issue and men dealing with trauma is such an issue.

01:45So that has come directly out of the Donny and Darian story and that's wonderful to see.

01:52It's really important that that happens.

01:53So that was a surprise and a real delight.

01:56What was the prep like for this one?

01:58Like going there, going into that space and then also being able to pull yourself out

02:02of it?

02:03Yeah, that's been really, that was really tough.

02:05It was a really tough two and a half weeks of Richard, just the two of us going through

02:08the whole thing.

02:09Yeah.

02:10We kind of held our hands through, held each other's hands through it.

02:13We talked a lot.

02:14We checked in on each other constantly and when needed, we just sort of left each other

02:18alone.

02:19Yeah.

02:20And then went home and had a quiet cry.

02:22Is that just a really elongated version of all your emotions going through today?

02:27Yeah, that's basically it.

02:29Well, we hope you get to the happy tears by the end of the night.
