00:00We're Caprice Dance Academy. We're one big family with open arms for literally everybody.
00:05We like to dance like no one's watching. We like to dance like we're dancing in the rain.
00:08Dance is, is for everybody and anybody. You've just got to take the step first.
00:15Caprice Dance Academy in Leeds has gone from strength to strength in the dancing world,
00:19developing the next generation of professional dancers. Owner and Principal Yasmin Sheikh,
00:25her four-legged friend and some of her students reflect now
00:28on recent competition success and share their tips for getting in to dance.
00:33You're in awe of these children and adults but you're in awe of them so you watch them come in
00:37and they're nervous. They know nobody and they literally trust you, like literally in that
00:42moment they trust you and then we start off with something steady, something simple.
00:47Caprice Dance Academy is a place where you learn how to dance and our dance teacher Yas
00:52is one of the very good dance teachers. It's been pretty good, we've done lots of competitions,
00:57we've won and we've lost but it's all pretty good. I've been doing it years and years now
01:02and I just haven't got bored of it you know, like especially at Caprice it's become like my home
01:06and I just, I just enjoy it so much and there's nothing I'd rather do. It's like a home to us,
01:11we always enjoy coming here, we always enjoy seeing everyone and we're like one big massive
01:15family. I really enjoy coming here because I really, I'm into dance and musical theatre so I
01:22wanted to learn to dance so I could like expand my skills and abilities and I really enjoy competing
01:33because I like to win. It could be simply fitness, it could be simply just to meet others
01:38and it could be something you've seen on the TV. Most people love a good bit of strictly,
01:41I definitely believe dance is the thing to get you moving. The competition floor is like a whole
01:46nother like level of like amazement honestly. I got first in tango and second in jive. I got second
01:54in my quick step but I didn't get through that money rounds and my cha-cha. I danced my quick
01:58step and cha-cha. I did my jive and tango and I forgot then and I came in first and second
02:08and I came in first and second too. I went on and did my dance and I won it. I also got second
02:15in my second dance and it's not about being the best of the best, it's about doing it for you
02:19and not about for other people. I'd just say just go out and give it a go because you never know
02:24what you could find. Don't worry if you can't do a single move, you'll progress, you will eventually
02:29get better and better and better so you don't have to be worried about not being able to dance.
02:34Not only is it like teacher satisfaction, it's just seeing them go on a journey for themselves
02:38because dance, we can talk about dance being physical movement and a sport, which it is,
02:44but it's so much more like you become a part of something bigger whether you compete or not.
02:50Never give up, do what you want, follow your dreams and always try your hardest.
02:57You're still what I'm saying.
