00:00Dance City has a heap of activities for people of all ages, so one of the things
00:05that you can do here is come to one of our 70 dance classes representing over
00:0925 genres of dance, and we have classes for people from as little as three
00:14months old to people in their 80s coming along, from beginners classes through to
00:19advanced classes, so really there is something for everyone.
00:23I thought this will be a good idea.
00:30I think it's like belonging part of a team that I feel like the class becomes
00:34very together and anyone who's new always coming to class everyone feels
00:38like very welcoming towards that person and people go wow that was really fun.
00:42Well Chad's obviously been at Dance City for a long time but I wanted to get the
00:46perspective of some pupils as well. I've done performing arts since I was about
00:5010 and I've really enjoyed dance classes and then I did some Latin dancing at
00:53university and then when I moved to the Northeast I was just wanting to continue
00:57one of my hobbies so I just looked up local dance schools and studios and I
01:02found Dance City. I started going in like 2019-2020 and I've really enjoyed it and
01:07been going ever since.
01:08It gives me an hour or so every week just to go out and meet people I don't meet very often.
01:13I don't get judged so that's a good positive so I just like to come to this.
01:19It's a really good place to come and they do loads of great classes here.
01:24The classes certainly seem amazing but that's not all they do here at Dance City.
01:28The Seven Bridges opened in June here at Dance City and it's a collaboration with
01:32the West End Refugee Service and what we're fashioning here is a World Kitchen
01:36experience where it's adding a different sensory experience to your time here at
01:41Dance City. We're really proud of it.
01:43It strikes me that Dance City is culturally rich and has something for
01:46everyone no matter what it is you're looking for.
01:48Very nice to meet loads of people here. There's a lot of quality people. I meet loads of nice people every week.
01:53There's a couple of people I chat to quite regularly that I've known so it's a nice friendly class.
01:58I get to mingle and get to chat with people before the class. I get to do a class with them.
02:03It's a very good group to perform with.
02:05There's a different style that's suitable for everyone so I would just say just give it a go.
02:09If you're not sure the staff on turkey desk can help you choose a class.
02:12It's really good energy, really good exercise, really good for well-being and fitness as well.
02:16So I'd highly recommend it.
02:18Some people like the place so much they joined the team.
02:21From day one, from when I used to just be a student here, I've always loved it.
02:24I used to go home and be like, oh my god, I've learnt this, oh my god, I've learnt that.
02:29And that was the same when I got told I was going to be starting teaching.
02:32I thought it would be lovely to have people leave my class and feel that same way that I did.
02:38The company, which turns 40 soon, welcomes professionals, touring companies and amateurs alike.
02:45For some people it's a real casual hobby and for some people it's like,
02:50I'm a proper amateur, I'm going to dedicate myself to this.
02:53And some people, they want to be professionals.
02:55And Dunn City is a place where all three can thrive really, really well.
