Festival of Chichester looking for new committee members

The committee behind the Festival of Chichester is looking for new members as it starts to work towards 2025.

00:00Hello, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers and also Chairman

00:07of the Festival of Chichester. I just wanted to mention to you that at the Festival we've

00:11got the opportunity for a couple of people to come and join us on the committee. We're

00:15a couple of committee members down. We've lost a couple of people over the summer, as

00:19inevitably happens because people have got busy lives, but that does mean that there

00:23is now this opportunity and we would like two people to come forward just to boost our

00:28numbers as we start planning for next year. Now, the particular gaps is we need someone

00:33to look after our fundraising and also someone who will think about our brochure distribution,

00:38but that doesn't have to be the role because we generally share the roles, but that's the

00:43kind of areas we're looking at. And it's just really someone who's got the enthusiasm for

00:48what we do, who appreciates the fantastic festival that we put together every summer

00:53from mid-June to mid-July, who would like to be part of it. As a committee, we meet

00:58on Zoom once a month, generally on the first Wednesday of the month and probably meet for

01:04between an hour and an hour and a half. And then probably as the festival itself gets

01:10a bit closer, the workload will increase a little bit. But joining now, it's a quiet

01:15time and we promise anyone a really gentle introduction just to feel their way into the

01:20committee, which is a really friendly committee full of different people, different interests,

01:26different skills, but we mesh together well. And every year we combine to produce this

01:30brilliant thing, the Festival of Jochester. So today, we just need to renew the committee

01:35a little bit. So if anyone would like to come forward and join us, it will be a pleasure
