Starbucks’s new CEO has a long to-do list of problems

Starbucks’s new CEO Brian Niccol starts his first day in the coffee giant’s C-suite today.

00:00Brian Nicola is officially swapping carnitas for cappuccinos as he starts his first day as Starbucks' new CEO.

00:06I probably have, let's see, three or four cups of coffee, you know, one or two in the morning and then one or two in the afternoon. Always hot.

00:15Nicola's spent the last few weeks visiting dozens of Starbucks locations and pored over menus, store formats, and different drink preparations.

00:23He's coming into a long list of problems he has to tackle, including long wait times, union contract negotiations, and falling sales.

00:32Nicola will also have to try and turn around stores internationally, something he has limited experience in.

00:37People who have worked with him say he focuses on select projects with big payoffs and directs staff to make the big thing the big thing.
