00:00Well, look, if it could do everything that Edmund Munt had promised,
00:03then maybe that would be a good thing.
00:04But the truth is, it can't.
00:06And actually, what you have seen from the Labour Party
00:09is a complete reverse face on all of their energy bill promises
00:12that they made in the election.
00:14They stood there and they promised families
00:16that they would save them £300 of their energy bills.
00:19They don't say that anymore.
00:20And in fact, one of the first things they did when they came into office
00:23is they've taken up to £300 support away from 10 million pensioners
00:27this winter.
00:28That was nothing that they talked about during the election.
00:30And I think it's been a complete betrayal of the British public.
00:33I think it's going to be a waste of money for the taxpayer
00:35because he hasn't set out an investment plan.
00:37And the things that he is promising, he cannot deliver.
00:40He's saying on the one hand, he's going to lower bills.
00:42He's set out no plans to do so.
00:44He's saying that he's going to turn a profit for people,
00:47but he's telling businesses he's going to take
00:49the most unprofitable parts of their investments.
00:52So he literally cannot stack up these promises.
00:54And that's what I worry about,
00:55because ultimately the people who will suffer
00:58are the people at home looking at their energy bills,
01:00wondering if they can turn on their gas kicker,
01:03wondering if they can put on the heating this winter.
01:05And those are the people that will struggle,
01:07which is why when I was in post as energy secretary,
01:10my relentless focus was to bring down the cost of energy.
01:14And actually, he's taken a very different approach.
01:16And whether it's businesses or unions or energy experts,
01:20everybody is saying that his overall approach
01:22is going to increase the cost for families across the country.
