Alexa Leary stole the hearts of Australia on day seven of the Paralympics as she broke a world record and secured a gold medal in the S9 100m freestyle. And she wasn't the only athlete to bring home a medal.

00:00Alexa Leary is officially Australia's golden girl of the Paralympics.

00:08Last night she won her first individual gold in the women's S19 100m freestyle, setting

00:13a world record.

00:15Only days earlier she swam that cracker final leg in the relay to clinch team gold.

00:19But she's golden for so many other reasons.

00:22Three years ago her parents Russ and Belinda were told to say their goodbyes after a terrible

00:27cycling accident left her with multiple fractures and a traumatic brain injury.

00:31It's a miracle that I'm living, that I'm walking and talking, she said after her race.

00:35And it is.

00:37She loves music, she loves dancing, she loves the beach and her puppy Harvey.

00:41Alexa, Australia loves you.

00:43At the pool, Grant Scooter-Patterson and Rikki Bittar both won bronze, and elsewhere Chin

00:47Yeung won her second table tennis gold of the Games in the women's singles after taking

00:52the doubles earlier in the week.

00:54And out at the cycling time trial, Lauren Parker became Australia's first dual sport

00:59Paralympic medalist in 44 years, winning silver in the women's H13 event after winning gold

01:05in the triathlon on Monday.

01:07Meg Lemon and the flying mullet Alistair Donoghue won silver in their events, and Alana Foster

01:12and Darren Hicks won bronze in theirs.

01:14It was a big day seven, and we can't wait to see what's next.
