00:16and we're really welcoming people to come back if they've already been because
00:20Discovering Degas, there's always something new to explore.
00:23Degas was an artist who really focused on intricate details
00:27so even if you've already been once I can guarantee you'll find something new to discover next time.
00:32Our collection here at the Burrell of the works of Edgar Degas is the largest in the UK
00:37that were collected by a single collector and what's so special about our works by Degas
00:42is they're not just focusing on one particular aspect such as ballet
00:46but they also cover other genres so you can learn more about horse riding,
00:51you can learn more about washerwomen in lawn dresses,
00:54we've got a wonderful portrait of a critic who was very dear to Degas.
00:59So really through our collection it's a standalone collection that allows you to discover
01:04the whole wealth of Degas' work.
01:07This exhibition is such a good chance to see works that are loaned from across the country and beyond
01:12so we have some really special works that you might not get a chance to see again
01:17and particularly not at such close range.
01:19For example a work from the Musée d'Orsay called L'Absent.
01:22It's a work you'll read about in your history books and your art history books.
01:26This is a chance to get up and close and personal with this work
01:30whereas in Paris you'll be surrounded by tourists guaranteed.
