00:00As the new school year begins, high school seniors, as well as ambitious juniors,
00:05are beginning what more than half agree is the most stressful experience of their academic lives—applying to college.
00:14But here's the good news for teens and their parents.
00:17There are terrific schools providing a great rigorous education and strong career prospects
00:22that admit 30, 40, or even 50% plus of their applicants.
00:28The Forbes Top Colleges list uses a unique methodology that emphasizes student success—
00:34high graduation rates for kids from all economic backgrounds, hefty early career salaries, and relatively less student debt.
00:42We don't factor admissions rates in at all.
00:45But this year, after we compiled our list, we looked at schools' admissions rates
00:50and found that 38 of our top 100 admit more than 30% of applicants, with 16 admitting 50% or more.
00:58In other words, these are great schools with less admissions stress.
01:03That doesn't mean you can get in without solid grades or get out without working hard.
01:08It just means that gaining admission is somewhat predictable.
01:12Notably, the list features five universities that Forbes named to its recent New Ivies list,
01:18which we created by screening for schools that attract smart, hardworking kids and also win plaudits from employers.
01:26Those five are the University of Illinois–Urbana–Champaign,
01:30the University of Maryland–College Park,
01:33the University of Texas at Austin,
01:35the University of Wisconsin–Madison,
01:38and Binghamton University in New York.
01:41Out of the Forbes Top 100, we found 38 schools with admission rates at 30% or above.
01:48Here are the top five schools with higher admission rates on Forbes 2024–2025 Top Colleges list.
02:12At number two, University of Illinois–Urbana–Champaign.
02:17And at number one, Brigham Young University.
