This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the week ahead 26/08/2024. The low pressure system moving north-eastwards from the Atlantic will bring wet and windy weather across northern and western areas, elsewhere remaining dry with hazy sunshine. 00:00Hello, there. Welcome to your week ahead forecast. Monday, we were between weather systems and

00:06generally most places were dry and brighter compared to the weekend. However, it is all

00:10change as we head into Tuesday. The next area of low pressure moves in from the Atlantic,

00:15bringing wet and windy weather across northern and western areas. However, high pressure

00:19just about holds on across the southeast and also will start to import some warm air.

00:25So, Tuesday, a wet start across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northern England and met

00:29obvious warning in force across southwest Scotland for some heavy bursts of rain, some

00:33local disruption possible here. And through the day, this weather system just pushes a

00:38little further southeast with introducing rain across much of Northern England, Wales

00:42and northern parts of the West Country as well. Some of the rain could still be heavy

00:46at times, breezy with this too. Behind this weather front across Northern Ireland, Scotland

00:51starting to brighten up with a few showers and then to the southeast across east and

00:55southeast England, generally dry day to come on Tuesday with plenty of hazy sunshine.

01:01With the winds coming in from the south, we start to import some warmer air, temperatures

01:05reaching around 25, 26 Celsius in the best of the sunshine. Cooler under the cloud and

01:10rain, around 19 or 20 Celsius and generally fresh behind as well. But brightening skies

01:15will feel fairly pleasant in any sunny spells here. Looking at the picture as we head into

01:21Wednesday, this weather system starts to develop some ripples along it. So it isn't

01:26going to go anywhere very quickly through Wednesday. To either side of this, we'll see

01:30some drier weather. But if you're under this cloud, you'll see some outbreaks of rain through

01:34the day on Wednesday. So particularly parts of Northern England, Wales, the West Country,

01:38generally quite cloudy with some showery rain. Further showers possible across Northern Ireland

01:43and Scotland through the day, perhaps merging to give some longer spells of rain. But there

01:46will be some sunny spells in between and then a dry and bright across east and southeast

01:51England here. Some hazy sunshine and temperatures lifting towards the high 20s. Quite warm and

01:57humid under the cloud and patchy rain across central areas and fresher behind the weather

02:01front across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, around 18 to 20 Celsius. Heading into Thursday,

02:08this weather front starts to eventually push its way eastwards, introducing some fresher

02:13air across the country. Some further showers also moving in across northern and western

02:18areas. But just notice how a ridge of high pressure also starts to extend in as well.

02:24So looking at the picture for Thursday, the weather front quickly pushes out of the way

02:29and then we see a brightening picture across England and Wales. Though the cloud will come

02:32and go, perhaps a few showers in places and showers also across Northern Ireland, western

02:38Scotland, one or two heavy bursts. But there'll be plenty of sunny spells in between. But

02:42winds now coming more in from the west, generally light though, and the fresher air across all

02:47areas. Temperatures nearer to average around the high teens to low 20s in the north and

02:51low 20s in the south, around 23 or 24 Celsius towards the London area. Heading into Friday,

02:59the ridge just pushes a little further north and eastwards across the UK. Keeping weather

03:03fronts at bay means it should be largely settled, but it is still building in. So the clouds

03:08still may bubble up through into the day ahead and we could see a few showers, but it will

03:13be a bright start, some shallow mist and fog patches with light winds. And then through

03:17the day, the clouds just start to bubble up, particularly across northern England, parts

03:21of Scotland. We could see one or two heavy showers, perhaps Northern Ireland later on

03:24in the day, much of England and Wales generally dry. Temperatures similar, generally the high

03:29teens to low 20s, our highs around 23 Celsius across the southeast. And then quickly looking

03:35into the weekend, high pressure holds on. It keeps it largely settled. Weather fronts

03:40right out in the Atlantic and temperatures also start to rise a little more with plenty
