00:23Every 6 months, Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte urges for a mandatory random drug test for all elected and appointed officials of the government, including the President.
00:34In House Bill 10744, Duterte said he will do it by mentioning hair follicle and urine test.
00:43Anyone who gets positive can be suspended or removed from their positions.
00:51Candidates for the election can voluntarily undergo a random drug test within 70 days before the vote.
00:59Duterte said in a statement to the Constitution that the public office is a public trust and that those who serve the government should be responsible and have integrity.
01:11Illegal drugs are still a problem in the country.
01:15In 2022, almost 4,000 were admitted to various rehabilitation centers in the country.
01:22That's why it's important for drug testing to become commonplace in order to control the problem.
01:28The House Committee on Dangerous Drugs has already referred the issue to the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs.
01:34House Deputy Majority Leader Margarita Nograles said,
01:38It will go through the process. I just hope that she will show why she's doing this and that it's not for any vindication of anything.
