00:00Hi, I'm Allison Tolman.
00:01I'm Wendy McLendon-Covey.
00:02I'm David Alan Grier, and here's a sneak peek
00:04at our new show, St. Dennis Medical.
00:06♪♪
00:12Okay.
00:14Got you a packed lunch.
00:14Oh, thank you, ma'am.
00:16And treats from the vending machine on me.
00:17Yeah.
00:18And this is the number for that drug treatment center, okay?
00:20Oh, yeah.
00:21The same one I told you about the last three times you OD'd.
00:24I know. I'll call them.
00:26You really, really got to lay off the drugs, okay?
00:28You could actually die.
00:29Oh, yeah. I don't...
00:31And then, you know, who would come bug me
00:33and make me spend all my quarters on them, right?
00:36No more. I promise.
00:37No drugs from now on.
00:38Okay, good.
00:42Listen, um, if you are gonna use it again,
00:46as a nurse, I have access to some really good stuff,
00:49and I will hook you up, okay?
00:53Yeah. Let's do that.
00:54No, man!
00:56That was a test. See?
00:57Yeah.
00:58That's what you can't do.
00:59Get your stuff. Let me get your chair and get you out of here.
01:02You want to rehearse it again?
01:03I didn't know we were gonna be...
01:04Do you want some drugs, and you say,
01:05-"No!" -"No."
01:06But I didn't expect you to say that.
01:08When I was a kid, I really wanted to be a doctor.
01:10And then, when I was in college, my nan got sick,
01:13so we spent a lot of time in the hospital.
01:16And that's when I realized that the nurses
01:18really provide the care part of health care.
01:21So I became an RN, and I love it.
01:24You know, it's not always glamorous,
01:26and our patients don't always appreciate us.
01:29Ow!
01:31And the pay's not great.
01:32I mean, considering the amount of work
01:33and the risks that we take.
01:35But every now and then, a moment comes along
01:38where you truly change someone's life.
01:41And that's beautiful.
01:44Uh, Mr. Flynn, those are supposed to,
01:48uh, open in the back.
01:49I don't want you to see my tushy.
01:52Heh.
01:54Welcome to St. Dennis Medical Center,
01:56an international medical destination.
01:59It's what I hope to be saying in about five to ten years' time.
02:04It's gonna take a lot of vision, a lot of hard work,
02:07and a lot more donations.
02:09Heh.
02:11We are a safety-net hospital,
02:13which means we provide care to everyone,
02:15regardless of insurance or financial status.
02:18But that just means we have to work extra hard
02:20and stay positive.
02:22Hey, you guys.
02:24What is it that I always say?
02:25What's the most infectious thing in a hospital?
02:28C. diff?
02:30No.
02:31Antibiotic-resistant staph.
02:32No.
02:33I think it's pneumonia.
02:34No.
02:35You guys, the most infectious thing
02:37in a hospital is a smile.
02:39Heh.
02:40I've never heard you say that before.
02:41I say it all the time.
02:43We have a new floor nurse starting today.
02:45It's a young guy from Montana.
02:47Montana.
02:48Ooh, you know what that means.
02:50Ooh, yeah.
02:51Bring it to me, please.
02:52That is exactly the type of unprofessional reaction
02:54I was gonna warn you about.
02:55You can't do that.
02:56Really excited to meet him.
02:57Or that.
02:58Stop it.
02:59Stop what?
03:00You okay?
03:01Yeah.
03:02I was just dry-humping the desk
03:03and imagining it was a Montana nurse.
03:05Cool.
03:06So, apparently,
03:07I ordered so much Postmates last month,
03:09they sent me a gift card.
03:11Sweet.
03:12Sad.
03:13That's a sad thing.
03:14Yeah, I lean towards sad, too.
03:15But Burgerville milkshakes tonight on me.
03:19Can I get mine with oat milk?
03:20Probably not.
03:21You?
03:22Oh, no, I'm good.
03:23My shift's done at 4.
03:24Please.
03:25You always work past your shift.
03:26Not tonight.
03:27My kids are doing Mamma Mia at school.
03:29How about a backup milkshake?
03:30You seem like a hazelnut gal.
03:32Nope, no need.
03:33I am done at 4.
03:34Okay, there'll be no sharing later.
03:36Okay, can you go help a sick person now?
03:38No one share milkshakes with this woman.
03:41Put your hand up so they can see.
03:43Nurse Alex.
03:44No milkshakes for her.
03:47A couple weeks ago, I got a promotion,
03:49and so I am officially a supervising nurse.
03:52Came with a small pay bump and a large responsibility bump.
03:58So it's been a little difficult finding that work-life balance,
04:02but, you know, it's good.
04:04It's...
04:05It'll be good.
04:06It'll be good.
04:07It'll be good.
04:08It'll be good.
04:09It'll be good.
04:10It'll be good.
04:11It'll be good.
04:12It'll be good.
04:13It'll be good.
04:14It'll be good.
04:15It'll be good.
