00:00So Enid, we're here at Wem Cricket Club and it's to celebrate the decade of U3A.
00:06It sure is.
00:06What is U3A in a few lines, what is it?
00:10It stands for, it used to stand for the University of the Third Age,
00:14so it's all about people who are not in full-time work anymore,
00:19maybe wanting to keep up a bit of learning different things,
00:22having a bit of fun and laughing, basically that's what we're about.
00:26So 10 years here at the cricket club?
00:29No, we've not, this is a venue in Wem that we've had to pick
00:33because it's the biggest one that we've got, it's indoor and outdoor.
00:37We normally meet at Wem Time Hall for our monthly general meetings.
00:42So it's Wem and District?
00:44Wem and District, yeah.
00:45And is this one of the founding members, is it?
00:48What's your name, Adam?
00:49My name's Hazel.
00:51So what has, come on, let's get you on.
00:54So we've got another founding member,
00:55so what has it given to, what has it added to your life, having U3A here?
01:03You make a lot of new friends and you learn lots of different things,
01:06you can join lots of different groups, interest groups.
01:11I originally got involved because my mother was involved with U3A
01:15in a different part of the country and so I knew about it
01:18and I just felt that it was something that would be good for Wem.
01:22Yeah, and you were right by the looks of it.
01:24Although when I first joined, when I first told someone
01:28that we were going to start a U3A group, he said, oh, never work in Wem.
01:34Proved him wrong a decade on.
01:37Madam, you were one of the founding members as well?
01:39I was.
01:39And you've been enjoying yourself today?
01:41Very much.
01:42Yeah, did you enjoy the sing-song, the sing-along?
01:45It was nice, wasn't it?
01:46Yes.
01:46I like that, thanks to Lofty, Mr. Loft on the guitar.
01:50Loft, Loft, I'll get it right.
01:52And you enjoying yourselves, guys?
01:54Yeah, we are.
01:56And Jean, you were one of the founding committee members, weren't you?
01:59Yes.
02:00So how old are you now then, Jean?
02:01A man shouldn't ask a lady.
02:02I've already been asked that.
02:04I know, by me, sorry.
02:09Very pleased to be here, seeing it celebrate you in a decade, yeah?
02:13Well, yes.
02:17And here's to another 10 years and longer.
02:20Well, we'll let you crack on and enjoy the rest of your day.
02:22Cheers, guys.
