00:00Back in 2021 and 2022, J.D. Vance made numerous comments comparing abortion to slavery.
00:07During the Republican National Convention in early July, Donald Trump took to Truth
00:11Social to announce his running mate, writing,
00:13"'After lengthy deliberation and thought, and considering the tremendous talents of
00:17many others, I have decided that the person best suited to assume the position of Vice
00:21President of the United States is Senator J.D. Vance of the great state of Ohio.'"
00:27Since Vance received the official nomination for Vice President, numerous controversies
00:31surrounding the politician have popped back up.
00:34Most infamously, comments Vance made back in 2021 while speaking with Tucker Carlson
00:38have gone viral, where Vance said the country is run by, quote, "'a bunch of childless
00:43cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they've made,
00:47and so they want to make the rest of the country miserable too.'"
00:51Now another resurfaced clip from back in 2021 is stirring up controversy for Vance again
00:56after being unearthed by left-leaning news organization Media Matters.
01:00While appearing on an episode of The Catholic Current, Vance compared abortion and slavery,
01:04stating,
01:05"'There's something comparable between abortion and slavery, and that while the people
01:09who obviously suffer the most are those subjected to it, I think it has this morally distorting
01:13effect on the entire society.'"
01:15In 2022, Vance appeared on The Bruce Hule Show and drew the comparison again, emphasizing
01:21his support of Roe v. Wade being overturned, stating,
01:24You know, Dred Scott, one of the famous pro-slavery decisions by the Supreme Court, I don't think
01:29anybody wants that to remain law.
01:31So I do think that we look at these decisions very often, and we say, look, these things
01:34just don't make any sense anymore.
01:37So yeah, this is ultimately, this is a good thing.
