Immortal Meninga hopes to breathe new life into Raiders

00:00It gives me great pleasure to be able to announce today that we're welcoming back Mel Malinka to the Folds.

00:06We've been talking about bringing Mel back into the Raiders for some time.

00:11He moved back to Canberra recently, once he established himself back in Canberra.

00:16To get our greatest ever player back here, our only immortal, someone that's done everything at this club,

00:21coached it, been on the board, played, captained the club, will be invaluable for us going forward.

00:29On behalf of the board and the Raiders, I just want to officially welcome Mel Malinka back to the club

00:34in a role which will be wide-reaching and invaluable for Rick and the coaching staff.

00:41Raiders through and through, so very fortunate the club held me in that light to ask me to be involved.

00:48As Don mentioned, it was a pretty easy decision, so it's something that I'd love to do.

00:55I want to thank the Australian Rugby League Commission for allowing me to hold this position as well within the club,

01:02obviously with my role as the kangaroo coach as well.

01:06It's a very exciting time, I think, for the club.

01:10It really is a very good young roster and I'm looking forward to being around and helping out in any way I can.
