00:00The official release of Grounded 1.0 is here, and it brings with it a whole load of new
00:04story quests, enemies, and areas to explore.
00:07One of those areas, the main area, is the upper yard and the attached shed, and there
00:11are a few different ways to get there.
00:13Some are easier than others, so take stock of how good your gear is and brush up on your
00:17parkour skills as we guide you to getting into the upper yard.
00:20There are two proper routes into the upper yard, and a third option for cunning players.
00:24We'll lay them all out here, or you can use the chapter markers to jump to the one
00:28you want.
00:30First up, it's the western route to the upper yard, which is kind of the proper one.
00:34Handily named the Upper Yard Ascent, it is marked on the map here, and an explosive will
00:38clear the rock that blocks the gap permanently.
00:41That doesn't really get you there though, there's still a little further to go before
00:44you're in the upper yard proper.
00:46Once up the ascent, you need to head west, and through the ashy wasteland left by the
00:50spilled barbecue, but be careful.
00:52This area is full of prowling wolf spiders, two at least, not to mention the leftover
00:57coals create a heat effect that can damage you.
01:00Antlion armor and the quesadiantlion meal will reduce this effect substantially, you
01:05can get both of those back in the sandbox if you need them, and allow you to gather
01:09some of the special charcoal, used for both weapons, tools and structures, though you'll
01:13need a tier 2 busting tool to crack them open.
01:16Either way, climb up the spilled ash and you'll be in the upper yard, south of the sheds.
01:21The east route to the upper yard is shorter, but less reliable, and barely safer.
01:27Head from the northern hedge to the wall blocking you off, and there'll be a lab
01:30door set into it.
01:31You can go up there to reveal a tunnel that'll take you to the next level.
01:35You haven't reached the upper yard yet, but you're nearly there.
01:39Head forwards and there'll be a grassy area full of orbweaver spiders until you reach
01:42the wall ahead.
01:44This is where things get tricky, because this isn't technically an official route, but
01:47it is absolutely a way you can reach the upper yard.
01:50The grass that grows here often grows in such a way that you can jump up and parkour across
01:55onto the next step up, but you're ultimately relying on the good fortune of the game engine
02:00here.
02:01Plus it might take you a few attempts, and each time you fall you risk getting mauled
02:04by spiders.
02:05However, if you do make it, basically just keep going north, hugging the left hand wall
02:10past the castle mauled orc playset toy.
02:14You're technically in the upper yard already, so be careful.
02:18This is a dangerous area and there's going to be tiger mosquitoes, ticks and even a prowling
02:23black widow and her spiderlings around if you go under the rocks near the garden fence.
02:28This is one of those no right answer situations, as if you're building your own path you
02:33can basically do it anywhere.
02:35We recommend somewhere obviously with as few enemies as possible, and close to any existing
02:39bases you have for an easy commute.
02:41There's a few villainous bugs around, but try the northwest corner of the pond as a
02:45good starting point.
02:46You'll need grass and materials to build, so you can't really go too remote, but it's
02:50a good option.
02:51From there work on stairs, trampolines, ladders and whatever else you have unlocked.
02:56Getting up is all that matters, because getting down is easy if you have a dandelion tuft.
03:00So build yourself a reasonably structurally sound path, and make sure to prod it with
03:04a repair tool every now and again to make sure it holds up.
03:08Having some friends aid you with multiplayer will make it even more efficient as a building
03:12process.
03:13And at this point you have the upper yard to conquer.
03:16Good luck.
03:17You'll need it.
