00:00This year AMCHAM's HSSE conference and exhibition will take place under the theme Human Factors in Health, Safety and Environment.
00:08According to President of AMCHAM, Stuart Franco, the initiative, which is in its 28th year, has contributed to improvements in the workplace in areas of health and safety and environmental issues.
00:20He explains the reason why AMCHAM has decided to zone in on human factors in HSSE.
00:26Human factors are at the heart of improving safety. By taking the time to understand and address the root causes of human error carefully, we can design better systems, processes and environments to minimize the likelihood of accidents and incidents.
00:44In other words, addressing human factors can save lives and enhance the overall safety performance of all our team members and organization as a whole.
00:56In addition, Franco states that part of the aim is to promote the well-being of employees by way of limiting stress and producing happy and healthy workers and in essence boosting productivity.
01:08AMCHAM outlines that it is a possible feat which requires prioritizing employees. The conference, which is carded for November 12th and 13th, seeks to achieve that goal through sessions that are being dubbed as interactive and informative.
01:24Franco says empowering workers to feel safe, to take calculated risks, share their views and learn from mistakes centers around leadership and how leaders respond to failure and mistakes.
01:38We will also address personal security arrangements for worker safety. This includes issues such as risk assessments, threat mitigation and emergency response planning.
01:51Ergonomic design, task analysis, carbon reduction strategies and cyber security will also be talking points with human factors at the heart of each topic.
02:01The keynote speaker for the event is Tennessee-based Bob Edwards who will focus on human and organizational performance or HOP for short.
02:10Atlantic LNG is the title sponsor for the AMCHAM conference and according to its director of production Chris Sukram, the event is a platform for collaboration and growth.
02:21Since our last time at the conference, Atlantic has made significant strides to enhance our incident and investigation management process. We progress the training of our leaders on error elimination.
02:34AMCHAM will also be hosting its 14th annual National HSE Awards on November 11th for which there are 33 applications at this time.
