00:04as it contains similarities to the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
00:09When the episode was released at midnight on Friday,
00:12the streamer posted a statement on social media that read,
00:15The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence,
00:19which some viewers may find disturbing,
00:21especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt on former President Trump.
00:27The statement continued,
00:29The Boys is a fictitious series that was filmed in 2023,
00:32and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional.
00:37Amazon, Sony Pictures Television, and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind.
00:44A similar statement also appeared on screen at the beginning of the eighth episode of Season 4,
00:48along with the words,
00:49Viewer discretion advised.
00:51Prime Video also changed the name of the episode.
00:53It was previously titled Assassination Run,
00:56but is now simply titled Season 4 Finale.
00:58Creator and showrunner Eric Kripke previously told The Hollywood Reporter that they write the seasons close to two years before they are released.
