00:00Now it's summer and who doesn't like strawberries and cream? Well, Charlie's Great British Bake

00:10Off star, John Waite, says, hang on a minute, we're eating them all wrong. What you need

00:15to do with strawberries is have them with soured cream. That's the kind of cream that

00:22you would have on nachos or something savoury. So, yep, I've been to the shops, I've bought

00:28the ingredients and I'm going to try it out for you. So I've washed a few of the strawberries

00:35and chopped them up and put them in a bowl and now I'm about to pour the cream over.

00:41I will just say though at this point, this reminds me, when I was a girl growing up,

00:47my nana used to cover strawberries in sugar and then they'd kind of like create a lovely

00:52like strawberry syrup. So that is how I've always been brought up to think that's how

00:59you should have strawberries. Obviously, I don't cover them in sugar quite so much now,

01:03but the idea of putting something sour and not sweet on strawberries, I'm not expecting

01:09to like it but, oh gosh, quite thick. Right, this is an issue. It's not going to be quite

01:17as seamless as I'd hoped. Right, that's not so attractive but I'll see what it tastes like.

01:25Okay, I've had the strawberries, nobody wants to see me eating them on screen. They were

01:31okay. I feel like I say that a lot with these recommendations but to put it bluntly, I won't

01:39be doing it again. It was fine, it wasn't offensive, the cream was a little bit thick

01:43for me. I felt like the sour cream kind of took away, it kind of overpowered the tanginess

01:52and the sweetness, the more delicate flavours of the strawberry and I don't think it really

01:58did it justice. I think if you want strawberries, you want something sweet and, like I said,

02:07I always have this that strawberries are a sweet thing, they're not a savoury thing particularly.

02:11I know people do have it with balsamic vinegar but for me, sour cream's not the one. Sorry
