Views sought on West Yorkshire Mass Transit plans

Your views are being sought on proposed route options as part of the first phase of a West Yorkshire Mass Transit system.

00:00The Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracey Brabin, has officially launched a public consultation

00:07on plans to bring a mass transit system to Leeds and West Yorkshire.

00:11Details on proposed routes have been confirmed, with Phase 1 aiming to connect St James' Hospital

00:17with South Leeds and another line set to run between Bradford and Leeds City Centre.

00:22You're now being invited to have your say on a choice of proposed route options, with

00:27the region's plans for mass transit forming a key part of the Mayor's growth plan, and

00:32she has reiterated her pledge to have spades in the ground by 2028.

00:37Plans for a new tram system in Leeds were first proposed in 1991, more than three decades

00:42after the city's original tramway was scrapped.

00:46The Leeds Super Tram and Leeds Trolleybus schemes were among a host of proposed schemes

00:50that never came to fruition.

00:52This new consultation can now be found online and runs until the 30th of September.
