00:00As you can see Malik and I are outside the Olympic Stadium here in Berlin and we've just listened to Gareth Southgate and Harry Kane
00:06previewing the European Championship final against Spain here.
00:10The England manager and captain both in a good mood, very relaxed and light-hearted, both joking with the press pack,
00:17the assembled press pack who came in great numbers to hear them speak.
00:20Malik, what do you think were the kind of key takeaways from that press conference?
00:23Yeah, I mean you said they were relaxed, they were because they've been here before, not literally here,
00:27but in this exact position obviously three years ago and I suppose how do you want to dress it up?
00:32Are they going to be inhibited by the fear of three years ago? I haven't seen how fine the margins can be,
00:37but actually they flipped that on its head. Gareth Southgate said between that and what happened to him at Euro 96,
00:42he's seen it all, he's lived through it all, there's no fear rather to be taken from him
00:47and his challenge to the players was to go into the game with exactly that mentality,
00:51to show the best version of themselves. I think the line was if we're not afraid of losing,
00:55we have a much better chance of winning and yeah, that was the thing I took away.
00:59Yeah, that's right and there was a great line from Southgate which I think will get a lot of play in tomorrow's papers
01:03and online where he said, I don't believe in fairy tales, but I do believe in dreams.
01:08He was asked if he was a believer in fate and that's what he came out with.
01:12Southgate came dreaming of an England victory against Spain here in the Euros final
01:18and you can catch all the coverage of that game on the Standard Sport website and in Monday's paper.
