£12m Hartlepool Train Station Upgrade Completed

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen explains what the improvements mean for the town and rest of Teesside.

00:00So here we are, Ben. It's been a long time coming. How does it feel to see the platform

00:14Yeah, I'm really pleased to see it happen. It has been a long time coming. We started

00:17this project a number of years ago now. It's been in construction for a long time. There

00:21are always setbacks.

00:22Again, I want to impress upon people across the town that this is just very, very early

00:33stages of the redevelopment of the town that we want to see. We want a northern gateway

00:36entrance here. We want this phase two of the station to come. There's the redevelopment

00:39of the marina. There's already the fantastic leisure centre that's being built on Jackson's

00:43Landing, the development corporation. It will be expanding the film studios, and there's

00:47a lot more going on in the town. It's just nice to be able to demonstrate to the people

00:51of Hartlepool that when we promise we're going to do something, we actually deliver it, and

00:53there's a lot more delivery to come.
