00:00An independent animal rescuer who exposed the abuse of a husky last Tuesday is accusing
00:07the Veterinary Services Department of harassment after its enforcers showed up at her home
00:12at odd hours on two occasions.
00:14Shima Ari said DVS personnel dropped by her parents' home last week at 9pm and 2.50am,
00:21demanding that she hand over the husky she rescued on July 2.
00:25Shima said she has video recordings of the visits, the first of which was on the very
00:29same day she rescued the dog.
00:31Many DVS enforcers had turned up at her parents' home at 2.50am on July 2, she said, some of
00:37whom wore a vest to identify where they were from.
00:40In a second incident last Friday, Shima said she first received a WhatsApp message from
00:44an unknown number demanding she give a statement to the DVS.
00:49Less than five hours later at 9pm, four DVS officers showed up at her parents' house again
00:55to deliver a letter demanding that Shima, who wasn't home, provide a witness statement.
01:00She claimed the officers threatened to file a police report and obtain a warrant for her
01:04arrest if she did not give a statement.
