00:00A freelance worker has pleaded not guilty to two counts of animal cruelty involving 41 cats.
00:07Lee Ryojin was charged under the Animal Welfare Act 2015 with neglecting the cats,
00:14leaving them to starve and causing several deaths.
00:17The alleged offence took place at an apartment in USJ14, Subang Jaya, in March.
00:23If convicted, Lee faces a fine of between RM20,000 and RM100,000 or a jail term of up to
00:31three years or both.
00:33Judge Noor Ruzalawati Mohamad Noor set bail at RM10,000 with one surety and ordered Lee to surrender her passport.
00:42The court fixed August 7 for case management to allow Lee to appoint a lawyer.
00:48Sharif Sabran from the Department of Veterinary Services appeared for the prosecution.
