00:00Let's stay with the Mariners, but let's talk about some pitching as well, because while

00:06they are atop of their division currently, as I speak, two of their top names are not

00:11performing.

00:12Luis Castillo, another by-low candidate, Joe, what kind of deal would it take to prime Luis

00:16Castillo?

00:17Yeah, I think Castillo's one of these guys you look at, and if you have pitchers that

00:21have overperformed in the first half, I think maybe you look to cash in on somebody like

00:26Luis Castillo, who is kind of underperformed.

00:28Over his last seven games, he's got an ERA of 4.50.

00:33That's not Luis Castillo.

00:34The whip is still good, though, at 1.15, and that's why I'm buying.

00:38The strikeout rate is still pretty good, 36 strikeouts in 40 innings, again, not quite

00:42to his level.

00:44So it hasn't been a great stretch for him.

00:45He's had some up-and-down starts, but he's only 31 years old.

00:49He's still a really good pitcher.

00:50He is 7-9 this year.

00:51He's taken some tough luck losses early on.

00:54So I think if you look at the overall picture, you look at the win total, the win-loss record,

00:58it's underwhelming this year.

01:00You look at the ERA sitting at 3.72.

01:04That's not really where you want to see him.

01:06Typically, he's a 3.56 ERA guy for his career.

01:10So all the other underlying metrics are pretty much right in line.

01:13His career whip is 1.18.

01:16His whip this year is 1.18.

01:18So Castillo's pretty much that same guy.

01:19He's had some bad luck in some bad situations, and the Cleveland Guardians in particular

01:24really handed it to him on several occasions this year.

01:27They seem to have figured him out.

01:29But if Luis Castillo is anything, he's a buy low right now because you know how good of

01:34a pitcher he is.

01:35I do think the Mariners have no choice, especially with an injury to Julio, to be aggressive

01:38on that market.

01:39Hopefully, with the All-Star break, which Julio wasn't going to anyway, he's not making

01:43the All-Star team this year, you look ahead and you say, OK, let's fortify this lineup.

01:47Let's get Julio back healthy.

01:49And then you have Castillo hopefully making a really good run here in August and September.

01:53That's what I'm looking for from Julio and from Luis Castillo as well.
