How the Netherlands is offering innovative care solutions for the elderly

As the number of elderly people grows, social solutions to elderly welfare are being created.

00:00The Netherlands have one of the best care systems in the world, but that costs.

00:05The Netherlands spend more money on care than other industrial states.

00:09Still, tens of thousands of nursing staff are missing.

00:12Society is facing huge challenges, because the number of seniors is growing rapidly.

00:30We manage everything ourselves, so we do the client schedules.

00:41We decide how much time we spend with the client, and it's not only the caring part,

00:46but also a little bit of talking.

00:49And we have the time to do that, because there's no overhead, and that saves a lot of money.

01:01In the Netherlands, we need a lot more housing,

01:04a lot more variation between home and nursing home.

01:07You can split up homes, share homes, connect generations,

01:12and develop a lot more collective housing.

01:31In the previous home, I had fewer contacts than here.

01:36I do a lot more here. I'm more volunteer here,

01:40and I do a lot more for the people than in my previous home.
