00:00Two major heel turns in AEW, Shane McMahon's Monét meeting confirmed, my review of AEW
00:07Dynamite and more.
00:08I'm Oli Davis, and this is the WrestleTalk News.
00:19After five months of me asking for it, Mercedes Monét finally went full heel in AEW last
00:25night.
00:26Seemingly aligning herself with the Elite, and entering a feud against the women's
00:29division's returning babyface Britt Baker.
00:32It's DMD vs CEO.
00:35But the Elite aren't the only wrestling authority figures Monét's been chatting
00:39to.
00:40Because there's also CEO heart Shane O'Mac.
00:45Here comes a Monét.
00:47Monét calls.
00:48Here comes a Monét.
00:49Monét, Monét, Monét, Monét, Monét, Monét, Monét, Monét, Monét.
00:53And Shane McMahon.
00:54It was previously reported by PWInsider that Monét just so happened to coincidentally run
00:59into Shane McMahon at New York's LaGuardia airport while she was travelling to Forbidden
01:03Door on Sunday, where they talked about AEW.
01:08This comes off the back of Conrad Thompson recently saying on JR's podcast that he's
01:12heard Shane had contacted talent in AEW.
01:16It's been speculated these rumours could be Shane's way to get a WWE return.
01:21Nick Khan and Triple H might decide to bring him back in so he doesn't go to AEW.
01:27Mercedes herself has now confirmed the meeting via her official newsletter, revealing that
01:31Shane also gave Monét his number before they parted ways the dock.
01:36She signed off.
01:37The rest, as they say, is history.
01:39Or maybe a mystery.
01:41I can't believe I want Shane McMahon in AEW so much.
01:45How would you book him joining the Elite?
01:47Tell me by beating Bryan Danielson in a straight up wrestling match in the comments down below.
01:52Talking of McMahons in wrestling, Vince is still bad for it.
01:55Dijak was shockingly released by WWE last week after getting called up from a successful
02:00NXT run to do… absolutely nothing.
02:04But sometimes a complete lack of creative plans is better than Vince booking you in
02:08retribution.
02:09In a recent interview with Pro Wrestling Bits, Dijak recalled the most memorable, terrible
02:13idea during his stint as T-Bar was…
02:16This was a Vince idea.
02:17Vince wanted Mia Yim to pretend she was having a seizure.
02:21We were presented this by the writer, the producer.
02:24We didn't want to shoot the messenger.
02:25You could see in their face that they're like, I'm sorry, but Vince wants you to
02:30have a seizure.
02:31We're all like, what are you talking about?
02:33We can't do this.
02:34That's the way the production meetings worked back then under Vince.
02:38Because he'd say something, and everyone would just have wide eyes because you can't
02:42call him on it.
02:43Retribution was so bad, we went back and watched the Raw episode when they first debuted.
02:47Which also featured the first ever Raw Underground.
02:50Dijak and Shane McMahon in the same episode.
02:53It's the Raw where WWE lost their mind.
02:56Here's a clip.
03:23It's coming, Raw Underground, and so are you, with these women.
03:53Now it's time for my review of AEW Dynamite.
04:03BEACH BREAK.
04:04WHY BEACH BREAK?
04:05I HAVE NO IDEA BECAUSE THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY ZERO HAWAIIAN SHIRTS.
04:09What's the point of doing a beach branded wrestling show if Tony Schiavone isn't wearing
04:14a Hawaiian shirt?
04:17In about 5 minutes.
04:18The show opened cold on Renee Paquette interviewing Daniel Garcia ahead of his Will Ospreay International
04:23title match, when MJF stepped in to ask to be in Garcia's corner.
04:26I'm sure MJF has no other plans for this.
04:31The first match was a pay-per-view calibre bout between Bryan Danielson and PAC in the
04:35Owen Hart Tournament semifinal.
04:37Bryan's neck was a target, taped up and cupped after years of accumulated damage,
04:41so PAC rightfully went right for it with a Tombstone Piledriver and a Top Rope Avalanche
04:46Brainbuster.
04:47Danielson's selling was amazing, getting over the numbness in his arm as much as the
04:51pain in his neck.
04:52The final sequence of near falls was so well done, I actually thought PAC might win it,
04:56but Danielson got the last technical pin to advance.
04:59The ROH Champion Mark Briscoe then revealed he bleeds AEW, declaring himself as the first
05:06member of Team AEW for blood and guts.
05:08Jack Perry took him out, who was attacked by Kyle O'Reilly, who, in turn, was laid
05:13out by Okada and the rest of the Elite.
05:15I thought they missed an opportunity to have the new TNT Champion Perry speak in front
05:20of the CM Punk-loving Chicago crowd, where he could've got some nuclear heat.
05:24Also, as much as I love Briscoe, if Team AEW is going to be him and the acclaimed who made
05:29up the segment's final save, that's quite underwhelming.
05:33In both a tournament and blood feud grudge match, Willow Nightingale and Chris Statland
05:37are brawled in their Owen Hart fight.
05:39But in the first of two weapon backfire spots on this episode, Chris went to use Stokely's
05:43chain, nearly hit Stokely, letting Willow get the roll-up victory.
05:47There's more in this feud, and Willow advances.
05:50In the episode's best segment, Britt Baker cut an in-ring promo following her return
05:54at Forbidden Door.
05:55She spoke about her past, revealing she'd had a mini-stroke 10 months ago, her present
06:00that she's now medically cleared, and her future, she's coming for Mercedes Monet.
06:05Which is when her big comeback segment was interrupted on the Trom by Mercedes arriving
06:10backstage, where she's greeted by the Bucks telling her her championship celebration is
06:14ready as balloons start to get set up around Baker in the ring.
06:18Meaning, after almost five months, we finally got heel Sasha Banks.
06:23Her promo style, her facials, her character, it was all far more suited to Monet's talents.
06:29The two went back and forth on the mic, saying the word bitch a lot, where Baker challenged
06:33Mercedes to a match at All In.
06:35Bitch.
06:36For Monet to reply, she has to get to the back of the line.
06:39Also bitch.
06:40Chris Jericho replaced Taz on commentary next, getting Taz escorted out of the arena.
06:45It was so he could watch Hook's trios match with Samoa Joe and Shibata against the Cage
06:49Wagonee up close.
06:50After a triple submission finish, the rest of the Learning Tree attacked the Faces with
06:54chairs for a hardcore beatdown angle.
06:56Pulmonising Shibata's arm, hitting Joe with a chair, hitting Hook with the brass nuts,
07:01and then Big Bill chokeslamming him through a table.
07:03And as if all that wasn't enough, Jericho fireballed him backstage later.
07:07Jeff Jarrett was in full veteran babyface mode for his Owen Hart first round match.
07:12He was fighting for his tragically past best friend Owen, and cut one of the best promos
07:16of the year to build this journey.
07:18Which is why it was extra awesome his mystery wildcard opponent was the returning Hangman
07:23Page.
07:24A man somehow even more aggressive than when he left, where he proceeded to beat the crap
07:29out of Jarrett.
07:30Jeff got some great comeback spots like a stroke on the apron and a buckshot lariat caught
07:34into a sharpshooter, but it was inevitable.
07:37Hangman won, taking aim at Swerve Strickland's world title.
07:41He's so focused on Swerve that he rudely turned down the bucks, asking him to join
07:45the Elite in blood and guts.
07:46He's in the Owen, and he's going to win that.
07:49Although I think if Swerve joins Team AEW, Hangman will reconsider.
07:53The main event was the neatly built up Ospreay vs Garcia match for the international title.
07:58Shortly before, during a backstage interview, Ospreay had left the Don Callis family, telling
08:03Don he just doesn't have it in him anymore.
08:05Don said he's proud of him, but then hugged Will in that soap opera Evil Intentions Face
08:09Behind Your Back way.
08:10It was well performed, but I feel like this was a waste of what could've been a much
08:14bigger deal.
08:15See, Paul Heyman on last Friday's SmackDown.
08:18The actual match was awesome, starting off technical, and then going to Ospreay's spectacular
08:22moveset, getting caught in various submissions from Garcia.
08:25MJF slid Garcia the Diamond Ring, but Daniel couldn't bring himself to use it, a momentary
08:30lapse of concentration that let Will hit the Hidden Blade to retain.
08:34Ospreay consoled a crying Garcia in the corner afterwards and then left.
08:38MJF did the same, blaming himself for passing him the ring… to then kick him in the balls.
08:44There's my Max.
08:46He blooded Daddy Magic.
08:47He blooded Daniel Garcia.
08:49He punched security off the apron.
08:51He second-roped Tombstoned Garcia as Not Adam Pearce tried to stop him.
08:55I don't know why that's so bad, I've seen Darby Allin take it for a near fall.
08:58Ospreay then limped down to chase Max off, who warped through the crowd and actually
09:02physically shoved the fan, all while Garcia got a stretcher job.
09:05A hot angle that really makes me want to watch Collision where MJF will open the show.
09:10This week's Dynamite is 82%.
09:13But I'll tell you what's going to be even more Dynamite, Deadpool vs Wolverine, out
09:17later this month!
