00:00Vanakkam Neerthali.
00:29We are the leaders who lead the nation, we are the political leaders who lead the nation.
00:36If you look at the world politics, many leaders instead of leading their own country,
00:42they are leading their own home.
00:45Among the leaders who disgrace politics for self-interest and fame,
00:52there are great leaders like Atthi Poorthar,
00:56who gave their lives for the common good.
01:01Today, I would like to introduce you to a historical hero.
01:05If I had fulfilled this vow, history would not have forgiven me.
01:11In a country where bribery, corruption, and abuse of power have been rampant,
01:17it is surprising that such a great man has existed.
01:22Have you heard the story of the Prime Minister of a country,
01:25who taught only till elementary school?
01:29He led politics without knowing English.
01:32He brought a law that old leaders should not hold a position in politics,
01:37and opened his position as Prime Minister as a preamble to it.
01:42He built schools all over the country, saying that education will open the eyes of the nation.
01:49He introduced a revolutionary food plan that poor children should come to school.
01:56Even though he was the Prime Minister, he did not give special facilities to his mother who lived in poverty.
02:02To the extent that such characters can only be seen in cinema,
02:07Kamarajar is the name of that high-ranking leader who gave unbelievable goodness in Tamil Nadu and was praised day and night.
02:14It is undeniable that if the leadership like him continued in Tamil Nadu,
02:18the state would have risen to the level of a battlefield.
02:23On July 15, 1903,
02:27Kamarajar was born to Kumarasamy Nadar Sivakasi Ammal in Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu.
02:34He was born to a poor family.
02:36He was born to a low caste family in a society called Uyanda Jathi, Thalanda Jathi, which is the upper caste of India.
02:44Because of his poverty and lack of education, he was able to teach for only 6 years.
02:51At the age of 12, he worked in his maternal uncle's cloth shop.
02:56At that time, the whole of India was burning with the fire of independence.
03:01When he was 15 years old, he heard the news of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
03:08At the same time, he accepted Gandhi's call for independence,
03:12and at the age of 16, he became a full-time employee of the Congress party.
03:17Since then, for many years, he has worked hard for the party, not to mention his position.
03:25In April 1930, he participated in the salt feast of Gandhi's feet in Vetharanya.
03:33As a result, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
03:37After that first imprisonment, he experienced imprisonment 5 more times.
03:43He spent almost 8 years in prison.
03:47In February 1940, he was elected as the leader of the Tamil Nadu Congress party.
03:54He held that position for the next 15 years.
03:58In 1952, he was elected as a member of the National Assembly.
04:03In the next two years, he became the Chief Minister of the State of Chennai.
04:07The statistics show that he took on that position with great impatience.
04:12It was the first time in India that a person who did not know English became the Chief Minister of a state.
04:19But he did not know English, and after 6 years of education, he took on the position of Chief Minister.
04:26For the next 9 years, he brought the best leadership to Tamil Nadu.
04:31At that time, Tamil Nadu was proud to be the best state in India.
04:38What did he do then?
04:40Have you heard the story of a man who defeated his opponent in politics?
04:47As soon as Kamarajar became the Chief Minister,
04:49he appointed two of his opponents, C. Subramanian and M. Bhakta Vachalam, to the same post,
04:56and he overwhelmed everyone.
05:00Do you know what he told his officials?
05:04Face the problem.
05:06No matter how small it is, it is not a problem.
05:09Look for ways to solve it.
05:12If you do something, people will definitely be satisfied.
05:17In his goodwill, Tamil Nadu developed rapidly in education and business.
05:23He ordered the construction of many new schools throughout the state.
05:27Old schools were allocated.
05:29He ensured that there was a primary school for each village and a secondary school for each panchayat.
05:36To promote literacy, he introduced free compulsory education up to the 11th grade.
05:44He introduced an advanced plan to provide food and drink to millions of children who have no stomachache.
05:53He wanted to remove the name of caste, class, and poor rich man.
05:58He provided free clothes to all schoolchildren.
06:02His governance gave good recognition to Tamil language.
06:05He taught Tamil in schools and universities.
06:10He also published books on science and industry in Tamil.
06:14The Tamil Constitution was introduced to the government authorities.
06:18He was also invited to conduct cases in the courts in Tamil.
06:23In his governance, agriculture developed well.
06:27Vaigai Annai, Manimutharu Annai, Keel Bhavani Annai, Parambikulam, Sathanur Annai,
06:33and many other plans were fulfilled at a rapid pace.
06:37Kamarajar was also the Chief Minister of Industry.
06:40Neyveli Pazhuppu Nilakkari, Chennai Avadi Army Headquarters,
06:45Chennai Hindustan Teleprinters, and many other big businesses were established in Tamil Nadu.
06:51Seeing his changeable governance,
06:54Indian Prime Minister Nehru praised Tamil Nadu as the best state to be established in India.
07:01Kamarajar was elected as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the third time only because of such an excellent governance.
07:09He did so much.
07:11The next thing he did was to build a new foundation for politics.
07:16Kamarajar realized that the Congress Party was losing its momentum and strength.
07:21He created a plan that all the senior Congress leaders should resign their political positions
07:27and participate in party affairs for the good of the country and recommended it to Prime Minister Nehru.
07:34Congress accepted the plan within two months.
07:38The plan was named as Kamarajar Plan.
07:43On October 2, 1963, he became the Prime Minister.
07:54He was followed by leaders like Lal Bahadur Shastri, Jagjivan Ram, Murarji Desai, and S.K. Patel.
08:03In the same year, Javaharlal Nehru gave him the leadership of the Ahilya India Congress Party.
08:09The next year, after Nehru's death, Kamarajar became the next Prime Minister of India.
08:17Kamarajar made Nehru's daughter Indira Gandhi, who was 48 years old at the time, the next Prime Minister of India.
08:29Since he was able to make great progress in these two generations, he was called the Kingmaker by journalists and other politicians.
08:39In this way, Kamarajar, who ruled the southernmost part of Tamil Nadu, remained in the social sphere until his last breath.
08:48On October 2, 1975, he died at the age of 72.
08:55The next year, the Indian government gave him the highest award of Bharat Ratna.
09:02Kamarajar did not have a family of his own because he thought the social sphere was too big.
09:08Yes, he did not get married.
09:11Moreover, he learned to read English little by little when he was in prison, thinking that he had lost his education at a young age.
09:22Even though he was the Prime Minister of the state, it is surprising that his mother lived in a house with no basic facilities in the empty city.
09:32Because of his family, he did not have any property even for his mother.
09:38Do you know what he had kept for himself?
09:41Some clothes and some books.
09:45He did not have an official bond.
09:48No one can stop him at any time.
09:52That is why Tamil history still calls him a Karma Veerath and a Karuppu Gandhi.
09:59It is doubtful that Tamil history and world history will meet such a generous and honest leader.
10:10A person born in a degraded caste, a person without proper education, a person who only cares about the well-being of the country,
10:18If he has become the Prime Minister of a state and done so much, he can do anything because he is humble, right?
10:26For him to be blessed with the sky called Nallachi, it is his good intention that the country and the people should be brought up in harmony.
10:40The same reasons help us to be blessed with the sky.
10:52May the sky be blessed!
10:56May the sky be blessed!
