Suspect in apparent assassination attempt against Trump charged with federal gun crimes

00:00At a court in Florida on Monday, 58-year-old Ryan Wesley Ruth was given two gun charges,

00:05one of possessing a firearm whilst a convicted felon and the second of obliterating the serial

00:10number on that firearm.

00:13The two charges could be the first of many that could be heading his way as the investigation

00:17into the attempted assassination of Donald Trump continues.

00:21We are learning more details, however.

00:23The Secret Service on Monday saying that Ryan Wesley Ruth fired no shots towards the president

00:28but instead those gunshots were indeed from Secret Service heading his way which caused

00:31him to flee the scene.

00:33Donald Trump has laid blame for this attempted assassination at the feet of the Democrats

00:37and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in particular saying that the rhetoric coming from the Democrats

00:43makes people feel emboldened to make the bullets start flying.

00:47Well Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have said that there is no space for political violence

00:51in America and we got word from the White House on Monday that Donald Trump received

00:56a phone call from Joe Biden.

00:58The official readout from the White House said President Biden spoke with former President

01:02Trump and conveyed his relief that he is safe.

01:05The two shared a cordial conversation and former President Trump expressed his thanks

01:10for the call.
