Hurricane Beryl lashes southern Martinique, strengthens to Category 5

Hurricane Beryl lashes the coast of Sainte-Luce, in the south of Martinique, causing widespread damage. The hurricane has strengthened into a top-level category 5 storm, the earliest one in the Atlantic on record.
