So, can you first introduce yourself and tell us why people should come and visit the White
00:06
Horses in Rottingdean?
00:07
Yeah, sure.
00:08
So, my name is Vincent Madden, I'm the Managing Director of Venture Hotels, who have just
00:14
taken over, refurbished, re-launched the White Horses in Rottingdean, it's the most amazing
00:19
hotel in this fabulous location, so that's who I am.
00:23
Brilliant.
00:24
And what can you tell us about what's changed, because you were just saying it's a completely
00:28
different venue to what it was before.
00:30
Yeah, so previously it was the White Horse in Rottingdean, so we're a 32 bedroom boutique
00:37
hotel located right on the shoreline, so there's no road between us and the sea, you can walk
00:43
directly down onto the beach, do a little bit of sea-sitting in the morning if you want,
00:47
and obviously the White Cliffs walk all the way up to Brighton and down to Salton and
00:52
the Lido there.
00:53
We're at this really unique location in Sussex that doesn't have this, we have this beachfront
01:01
location and we've taken the hotel, we've spent the last 10 months re-developing it,
01:08
re-imagining it, and creating something really special for the community in Rottingdean.
01:14
So we have lots of local suppliers, lots of local beers and barley and Brighton gin and
01:21
gum, so some really really great products that we have here, we've got a fabulous local
01:26
team who have been training for the last month to really launch the hotel and we're just
01:34
really excited.
01:35
Brilliant, what do you think sets you apart from other places in Sussex and what's so
01:41
amazing about the location you've got here, obviously right by the coast, you can't really
01:45
pick a better place can you?
01:46
Yeah, so the great thing is we're minutes from Brighton, so you can actually get a bus
01:51
or drive from Brighton or an Uber from Brighton, it's literally only minutes and it's a beautiful
01:56
drive actually, right across the cliffs.
02:00
You then have the cliff walk that you can walk for absolute miles down by the White
02:04
Cliffs and uniquely what we have here is not only do we have this beautiful village feel
02:10
of Rottingdean, it's a real historical village with Ruchard Kipling and the game Cluedo was
02:15
developed here and it's got a huge historical meaning, lots of smuggling going on back in
02:21
the day, so it's got loads of stories in the village, but uniquely because it's a low point
02:28
along the cliffs, it had huge access to the sea and we're right at the cusp of that, so
02:34
you can walk from the hotel right on to the beach, you can go for your sea swim and enjoy
02:41
everything that's in the village. Within the hotel we've taken quite a lot of that
02:45
inspiration in, in terms of the food and the drink and the service and really the whole
02:51
brand is about discovery, local discovery, flavour discovery, etc. So we're bringing
02:56
all this together, the community of Rottingdean, which is an amazing place, very lucky people
03:01
to live here and bringing all the best that's in hospitality right into this unique property
03:09
and this unique location and you'll have taken some photos of just how good this location
03:16
is, so to have the city of Brighton there, this fabulous village feel and the seaside
03:21
right at your doorstep, it's just an amazing combination for us. Fantastic.
