State to launch national classification exercise of hotels to promote tourism

The national government is planning to start afresh the process of the National Classification Exercise of hotels in the country.

00:00I indicated that we are going to commence the national classification of our tails and

00:04there are a number of parameters that we are going to use.

00:06Of course, one of them is the East Africa classification criteria, which was approved

00:12by the East African countries as a standard that will be followed.

00:16Secondly, the Tourism Regulatory Authority, of course, has the criteria that have been

00:23developed and designed for that particular classification, which will involve the particular

00:30criteria that has been designed by the Tourism Regulatory Authority.

00:34And this classification is very important because it gives the hotels a mark of quality,

00:39it gives the assurance, and it also gives them to stick to the particular standards

00:44that have been given.

00:45So, this is a very important exercise and we are going to give it the seriousness that

00:49it deserves.

00:50As a government, we know that the number of tourists from Zambia and Kenya has increased.

01:01And there are a number of things that we have prepared, that we have put in place.

01:06I don't want to go into all the rules, but first, of course, I said that it is a matter

01:11of marketing, or trying to do one thing with the county governments and the Kenya Tourism

01:18Board, to show that we have those things, that you know we have those good things

01:24in Kenya.

01:25Even safari, even wild animals, beach, and other things like our tamarins, which are

01:30good.

01:31We are working together to show that God has known those things that we have.

01:37The issues that we have been discussing for many years, we are thankful that many of

01:41them are still being addressed.

01:43So, first of all, the issues that will be addressed in the future, first is to open

01:50new routes.

01:51The first one is Barabara.

01:53Now, Barabara of Dongokundu, it's almost complete.

01:57That will be opened in the future, especially in Kuala and also in Mombasa, or North Coast.

02:06Also, Barabara, Wanja Wandege, Wakunda, Wadiani.

02:13Also, there are other places that can be opened in Kuala.

02:19It is still under development.

02:21Another thing is the products that we are still looking for or bringing to the Kuala

02:27County.

02:28The first product that we are still looking for is Majimoto.

02:35Majimoto is in the process, and soon it will enter the market.

02:40Soon, it will be in Nyango.

02:42Nyango is where we find the Maasai.

02:45We are building a cultural center in Nyango.

02:48Also, the children can go from here to Nyango, and when they cross the border, they will

02:53also meet the animals there.

02:55So, these are attraction centers that we are still building.
