00:00This ingratious abduction constitutes a grave violation of the fundamental rights enshrined

00:05in our Constitution.

00:06In particular, Article 29 guarantees every citizen the right to freedom and security,

00:12including protection from arbitrary detention.

00:15This blatant disregard of constitutional protection strikes at the very core of our democratic

00:23society.

00:24Such violations cannot and will not be tolerated.

00:27The perpetrators of such acts must be brought to justice.

00:35Acts of kidnapping, arbitrary arrest, and illegal confinement are not merely personal

00:42affronts.

00:43They are crimes against the state and a direct threat to the rule of law, which forms the

00:48foundation of our democracy, and any action that undermines it erodes the fabric of our

00:54society.

00:55No individual, regardless of their status or power, is above the law.

01:00We stand united in resisting any attempt to weaken the legal framework that protects our

01:07freedom.

01:08Criminal responsibility to an individual, where an individual is suspected, that individual

01:13must be subjected to the rule of law and subjected to the due process of law.

01:18That is the only way we can all be accountable to the rule of law and cherish our democracy.

01:24All we are asking for is the rule of law.

01:26There are criminals everywhere.

01:29We have criminals in northern Kenya, bidet drug dealers, sympathizers of Al-Shabaab.

01:37All kinds of criminals are there.

01:40But an MCA, a leader, who has been abducted for weeks, cannot be missing.

01:49If he's a criminal and there is sufficient evidence to pin him down, we request the government

01:56to bring him to the courts of law so that he can face justice.

02:01But he can't be missing a leader.

02:02If he's missing tomorrow, I'll be missing.

02:05I'm equally a leader.

02:07So we want the rule of law and the criminal justice system to be functional, to convince

02:14all Kenyans that we have a reliable, dependable justice system.

02:19The accountable use of the MCA for Dela has been missing for the last five days.

02:24Concessionary, I think, if at all, someone has been held by the security apparatus, it's

02:29supposed to be introduced in court within 24 hours.

02:35And therefore we want to appeal to anybody, all the security apparatus, to reduce use

02:40of the court.

02:43If he's a criminal, the court will take his cause.

02:48If, and I say again if, accountable use has not been held by any of the security apparatus,

02:55then it is the responsibility of the government to seek and look for use of, as every Kenyan

03:01has a right and properties are to be protected, the people and their properties are to be

03:06protected.
