00:00Better note for you now, in the French revolution in the NBA, continued Wednesday when Zachary
00:05Richachet was selected first overall by the Atlanta Hawks.
00:10Another Frenchman, Alex Sarr, was picked second by the Washington Wizards.
00:14This marks the second year in a row that a player from France was the number one draft
00:18pick, with this year four French players in all making the cut, three in the top ten.
00:23That's after the San Antonio Spurs chose Victor Wemenyama last year, who went on to win rookie
00:28of the year.
00:29Joachim Koenig told us more from Los Angeles.
00:34Well this has been an historic night for French basketball.
00:36It's only the second nation after the United States to have three players in the top ten
00:41NBA draft picks.
00:42It's also another historic first, the first time France has had two number one picks in
00:47back to back years.
00:49Of course last year it was Victor Wemenyama, this year it is 19-year-old Zachary Richachet,
00:55the small forward who currently plays for Bourg-en-Bresse near Lyon, has been drafted
01:00by the Atlanta Hawks for next season.
01:02The player, who is 2.06 meters tall, was emotional after that first pick, telling reporters that
01:08he was happy to be part of something so special for his country.
01:12Helping France make history, another teenager, Alex Sarr from Bordeaux.
01:16The 19-year-old center will be heading to the U.S. Capitol.
01:20The Washington Wizards made him number two pick of the night on Wednesday.
01:25The Wizards have been suffering lately, they only won 15 games last season and they're
01:28hoping that this new arrival will help change things.
01:32Sarr's impressive resume could help.
01:34He left home at just 14 years old before playing in Madrid and then in the U.S.
01:39Most recently he's been playing for Perth in Australia.
01:42Sarr will join another Frenchman at the Washington Wizards, Bidal Koulibaly.
01:47He was picked just last year and has had a pretty great first season.
